रतन नवल टाटा (28 दिसंबर 1937, को मुम्बई, में जन्मे) टाटा समुह के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष, जो भारत की सबसे बड़ी व्यापारिक समूह है, जिसकी स्थापना जमशेदजी टाटा ने की और उनके परिवार की पीढियों ने इसका विस्तार किया और इसे दृढ़ बनाया।रतन टाटा नवल टाटा के बेटे हैं जिन्हे नवजबाई टाटा ने अपने पति रतनजी टाटा के मृत्यु के बाद गोद लिया था। जब रतन दस साल के थे और उनके छोटे भाई, जिमी, सात साल के तभी उनके माता-पिता (नवल और सोनू) मध्य 1940 के दशक में एक दुसरे से अलग हो गए। तत्पश्चात दोनों भाइयों का पालन-पोषण उनकी दादी नवजबाई टाटा द्वारा किया गया। रतन टाटा का एक सौतेला भाई भी है जिसका नाम नोएल टाटा है।रतन की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा मुंबई के कैंपियन स्कूल से हुई और माध्यमिक शिक्षा कैथेड्रल एंड जॉन कॉनन स्कूल से। इसके बाद उन्होंने अपना बी एस वास्तुकला में स्ट्रक्चरल इंजीनियरिंग के साथ कॉर्नेल विश्वविद्यालय से 1962 में पूरा किया। तत्पश्चात उन्होंने हार्वर्ड बिजनेस स्कूल से सन 1975 में एडवांस्ड मैनेजमेंट प्रोग्राम पूरा किया।रतन टाटा एक प्रसिद्ध भारतीय उद्योगपति और टाटा संस के सेवामुक्त चेयरमैन हैं। वे सन 1991 से लेकर 2012 तक टाटा ग्रुप के अध्यक्ष रहे। 28 दिसंबर 2012 को उन्होंने टाटा ग्रुप के अध्यक्ष पद को छोड़ दिया परन्तु वे अभी भी टाटा समूह के चैरिटेबल ट्रस्ट के अध्यक्ष बने हुए हैं। वह टाटा ग्रुप के सभी प्रमुख कम्पनियों जैसे टाटा स्टील, टाटा मोटर्स, टाटा पावर, टाटा कंसल्टेंसी सर्विसेज, टाटा टी, टाटा केमिकल्स, इंडियन होटल्स और टाटा टेलीसर्विसेज के भी अध्यक्ष थे। उनके नेतृत्व में टाटा ग्रुप ने नई ऊंचाइयों छुआ और समूह का राजस्व भी कई गुना बढ़ा।

सम्मान और पुरस्कार

भारत सरकार ने रतन टाटा को पद्म भूषण (2000) और पद्म विभूषण (2008) द्वारा सम्मानित किया। ये सम्मान देश के तीसरे और दूसरे सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान हैं।
